Due to increased cost and reduction in service at Redbus we have decided to move our servers to the Telstra facility a short distance from Redbus. Telstra are an Australian telecoms company offering a much higher level of service at a more competitive price than Redbus are currently offering. Much of this is the merger of Redbus and Telecity which has resulted in Telecity downgrading the previously unparalelled level of support offered by Redbus.
This move is something that has required much planning and assessment to ensure the highest level of support is maintained for our customers together with the avoidance of price increases.
The power backup and server support facilities are on par with, if not better, than the Redbus facility. The upstream providers are independant and we will be taking them with us to the new facility so ensuring the same level of speed and connectivity as you are used to.
The move will happen in around a weeks time on 17th-18th November 2006 between 11pm and 5am each night when usage is at its minimum. A maximum of 2.5 hours downtime is anticipated for each server although in practice it should be half of that time.
All IP addresses and host names are being taken with us to the new facility so there will be no perceivable changes to any of our customers.
Finally we would like to assure all of our customers that this move is being taken to ensure continued and improved service and stability of our prices into the future.
Thank you for bearing with us through this time of transition. _________________ Joe
